David Miller has been in the hospitality industry for only three years after 35 years as a businessman involved in a variety of service industries.
In 2005 David purchased the three star Best Western hotel, The Connaught in central Bournemouth with 83 rooms and from day one he knew it would be a successful business venture.
Being part of an established hotel chain, managers need to ensure it is representing the brand and building the reputation of the hotel. Best Western's broad international network and identity was the biggest factor for David's decision to remain with the group and improve The Connaught's performance.
As a businessman, David fully understood the value of the internet and from the start, based his business model on online sales. In 2007 over a third of all travel was booked across the internet in the UK. Now over 70% of The Connaught's business comes from the internet through a core market of 45 - 65 year old leisure travelers.
